Maximum security deposit is 1 month's rent. Pet deposits are separate and have no statutory limit. Must be returned within 60 days of move-out.
Landlords must give a 7-day pay-or-quit notice for nonpayment of rent, and a 30-day notice to terminate a month-to-month tenancy.
Alabama has no rent control and no state law preempting local rent control — though no cities currently have it.
